Governor Jindal & Staff Visit Red River Parish
October 3, 2008

Red River Parish officials received a special visit from Governor Bobby Jindal and his chief staff members which included Louisiana State Police Colonel Michael Edmonson, Louisiana National Guard Major General Bennett  Landreneau, Homeland Security Director Mark Cooper, and other staff members. Governor Jindal spoke to parish officials regarding emergency preparations and operations related to Hurricanes Gustav and Ike. The Governor praised parish emergency officials for their efforts in preparing as well as the efficient response of emergency responders.

The Governor also commented on his efforts to obtain additional recovery aid from the federal government to assist the citizens of Louisiana including the farmers who suffered greatly due to the wind and rain. Parish officials were given the opportunity to personally speak with the Governor and his staff along with taking a few photographs. Red River Parish was one of the many stops the Governor has taken in effort to address emergency responders as well as answer any questions or concerns the officials may have. Parish officials were very appreciative of Governor Jindal's visit, and welcomed him to return soon.

Official Road Name List Released    Go to fullsize image DOWNLOAD NOW
September 26, 2008

The Red River Parish Communications District has released the Official Road Name list for Red River Parish. The list can be downloaded and printed by clicking HERE or on the Downloads section of the website. The list contains the formal road name assigned to each road in the parish, and this name will be used to assign all new E911 addresses. Revised parish maps will be available for download in the future.

The Red River Parish Police Jury was responsible for assigning all parish roads a formal name. The Police Jury formally approved the list of their selected names and presented the road names to the Communications District for E911 address assignment. The Communications District has adopted a detailed Road Name Policy in which all public and private roads are discussed. Due to the complexity of the E911 Addressing process, no changes to official road names will be permitted for the remainder of the year. The Road Name Policy (which will be available for download in the near future) describes the process for requesting a road name change and will be initiated once all E911 addresses have bee assigned.

The Communications District continues to install new road signs throughout the parish. All roads will receive a brand new road sign to properly label the road. If you have any questions or concerns regarding this project, please contact the E911 Office at (318) 932-4354 or email redriverparish911@yahoo.com .
